چکیده
_ By D. N. SEN, l-m.s., Pathologist, Sambhunath Pandit Hospital, Alipore? Note by Major GOURLAY, d-s.o-, Surgeon Supdt., Sambhunath Pandit Hospital. In introducing this paper by Dr. D. N. Sen, Pathologist of the Sambhunath Pandit Hospital. I must admit that I have no first-hand acquaintance with the literature of auto-haemic therapy. At the same time, the subject appears to be an extraordinarily interesting one, and I fully sympathise with Dr. Sen's desire to urge its further investigation. The first man whose case he reports is a dresser of the Sambhunath Pandit Hospital. I saw the patient at intervals during the course of his illness, and it was only after Dr. Sen tried auto-hsemic therapy that any progress was made.

A meta-analysis and morphological review of cyclosporine-induced nephrotoxicity in auto-immune diseases.
BACKGROUND The risk-benefit ratio of cyclosporine A (CsA) is much more critical in some auto-immune diseases in comparison to transplantation medicine, due to its renal toxic potential. The present meta-analysis is based on an a priori defined methodology, and is linked with a review of CsA-induced morphological lesions, in order to draw relevant conclusions with regard to CsA-induced nephrotox...

The autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction (auto-MLR) measures the ability of non-T cells to stimulate autologous T cells to proliferate in tissue culture. The auto-MLR was studied in 11 patients with autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura (ATP). Seven patients had decreased auto-MLR, which averaged 4440 +/- 3364 cpm (SEM) compared to 15,360 +/- 6905 cpm for simultaneously studied controls. The aver...

متن کاملThe Possible Association between Elevated Levels of Blood Mercury and the Increased Frequency of Serum Anti-myelin Basic Protein Auto-antibodies in Autistic Children
Background: Autism can occur as a result of a complex interaction between environmental factors and genetic predisposition. Mercury is a neurotoxicant and it is one of the main environmental triggers for autoimmunity. The underlying pathogenic mechanism in autoimmune disorders is the formation of auto-antibodies. Brain specific autoantibodies are elevated in a subgroup of autistic children. We ...
